Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Assessment

The Texas Success Initiative Assessment, better known as the TSI test, is a program which determines the appropriate level of college course work for

an incoming student. High school students must make a passing score on at least parts of the TSI to enroll in dual credit courses. It is also required by Texas

colleges and universities prior to enrolling in courses. The TSI test consists of three separate exams (Mathematics, Reading, and Writing) which may

be taken individually or together.

Milford ISD will pay the cost for students to take the TSI test. The test is provided on our campus, once in the fall semester and once in the spring semester.

Students are responsible for the cost of any additional testing.

The next TSI test is scheduled April 15, 2020. See Mr. Chambers to register.

The following sites offer assistance in passing the TSI test or improving your score on the ACT, SAT or ASVAB. The key to success is how much you want it –

how much time are YOU willing to put into making a better score. So don’t stop once you finish one. Go on and do them all.

TSI passing scores are:
• Math = at least 350
• Reading = at least 351
• Writing = A placement score of at least 340 and an essay of at least 4; or a placement score of less than 340 and an ABE diagnostic level of at least a

4 and an essay score of at least 5. (Yes, it’s complicated)
